Five Guys halts online ordering in Canary Wharf site following overwhelming demand

It has also dispatched additional support teams to take care of the affected customers.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Five Guys Canary Wharf site said, "We've been so excited to offer Five Guys burger and fries to Canary Wharf, after waiting for many years. Unfortunately today, we just weren't ready for the volume of online orders we received upon opening this morning."

"We work in some very high demand environments, including Oxford Circus. But the intensity of 400 online orders being placed within the first hour of opening simply overwhelmed the kitchen. We just couldn't keep up with the demand.

"We are deeply sorry about the waiting times and the inconvenience this has caused, and rather than cintinue to disappoint, we have now turned off online ordering for this store. We have dispatched additional support teams to take care of the affected customers."

It ended the statement with, "We have learnt a valuable lesson today; next Friday we will be ready to manage the high demand and offer you the best burger experience we can."
