Costa Coffee announces return to Morocco
The UK-based coffee chain exited the country in 2020.
Costa Coffee is returning to Morocco after leaving for two years with a new franchise partner.
The UK-based coffee shop opened the first of its stores in Menara Mall, part of the high footfall M Avenue shopping parade in Marrakesh. Costa Coffee is set to compete with Japan’s % Arabica and Morocco’s Botchi Coffee and Medley Café which already have a presence in the area.
Costa Coffee’s franchise partner, Goldex Morocco, is said to be planning to open a total of 25 stores by 2027.
Costa Coffee first launched in Morocco in Casablanca in 2014 following a franchise agreement with Fawaz A. Alhokair & Co but closed its stores in the country in 2020.
