Of this figure, the coffee chain aims to open 10 drive-thru locations.
Costa Coffee has inked a deal with international real estate advisor Savills for 14 new out-of-town sites across various locations throughout England, Scotland and Wales, an announcement revealed.
These new sites will contribute to the 62 new equity stores the coffee chain opened since the beginning of January 2019. Costa Coffee aims to open 10 drive-thru locations, including stores at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol, Speke Boulevard in Liverpool, Hermiston Gait Retail Park in Edinburgh, Tower Retail Park in Poole and Gallagher Retail Park in Caerphilly.
In addition, the coffee chain has also agreed to take four new drive to sites, including outlets in Salford, Bridgwater and Liskeard, taking leases of between 10 and 15 years on each of the units which are all between 1,800 sqft (167 sqm) and 2,200 sqft (204 sq m) in size.
“We’ve been able to open an impressive number of new equity stores in the first half of the year and are working to maintain this success going forward. Since launching in May 2011, our drive thru stores have become an asset to our UK retail estate, allowing us to serve our signature, handcrafted drinks to our coffee loving-on-the-go customers,” James Hamilton, acquisition & estates director at Costa UK & Ireland, said.
