McDonald's eyes 60 new UK branches in 2020
It is also investing £1 billion over the next three years, focusing on customer and digital experience.
McDonald’s revealed its plan to open 60 new UK stores amidst a “tough” trading period.
“Having opened 40 restaurants in 2019, we plan to open a further 60 in 2020. However, this is not against an easy backdrop - rising food prices, labour costs and inflation, coupled with wavering consumer confidence have resulted in a tough trading period across the board, and we are mindful of that,” McDonald’s UK and Ireland CEO Paul Pomroy said in their recent financial year statement.
Pomroy has also announced their £1 billion investment over the next three years, focusing on customer experience to update the look and feel of their restaurants, as well as on digital experience.
Recently, the chicken giant announced its McDelivery roll out via its new partner, Just Eat. It also has an existing partnership with Uber Eats, which delivery sales have contributed more than 10% on their 2019 sales.
McDonald’s has also hit US$100 billion in systemwide sales in 2019, a first for the global chain.
