Papa Johns shutters some restaurants in South Wales

The brand cites ‘economic challenges’ as the reason.

Papa Johns has confirmed that some of its restaurants in South Wales have been closed.

“We can confirm that these franchise-owned locations in South Wales have closed. Like many businesses, our franchise partners have been impacted by economic challenges, which is why they have closed. We are currently exploring possibilities around new ownership in the area. We are grateful to all our team members and hope to see our loyal customers again soon,” a Papa Johns spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, Papa Johns also clarified news about its restaurants in Glasgow and Plymouth.

“Our stores in Glasgow and Plymouth are not closed. They are actually under new ownership – which is what we’re aiming to do with Wales. Hereford is temporarily closed due to major structural changes and we are reviewing the site. Worcester is open,” the spokesperson for the brand said.

A report by Wales Online said that three of four restaurants located in Cardiff were permanently closed.
