Gourmet Burger Kitchen expansion will create up to 2,500 new jobs

There are big plans for the brand under its new owner.

The burger chain is set to double in size and create more than 2,500 jobs as part of expansion plans after being bought by Famous Brands for £120 million. Alasdair Murdoch announced the plan to open up to 15 new restaurants a year.

"We're opening 12 restaurants this year and will open 12 to 15 per year over the next five years, that's not too aggressive," he told the Press Association.

Murdoch also said he wants to double turnover, which hit £65 million last year, by 2021.
