HOP Vietnamese furloughs staff
The chain initially paid its team in full despite shops being closed.
HOP Vietnamese has furloughed everyone in their staff, about a month after announcing that it is temporarily closing its stores due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“[W]e’re looking after our team as best as we can: we paid them initially in full despite our shops being closed, followed by furloughing everyone in the company to ensure that they still get 80% of what they would earn had this seismic shift not occurred,” founder and co-managing director Paul Hopper said in a email update.
The only people currently still working for the company, he said, are himself, co-managing director Josh Wyse and people and operations head Anna Bell.
“We’re having video meetings (truly the new ‘normal’) and putting our heads together - virtually - to work on ways to bring HOP back, bigger and better than before. We can’t wait to see you again,” Hopper added.
