McDonald’s UK announce 5000 new jobs
The fast food chain pledged to create over 5000 jobs in the UK by the end of 2017.
Paul Pomroy, Chief Executive Officer, McDonald’s UK, said: “I am pleased to announce that today, McDonald’s UK is to create over 5000 jobs by the end of 2017. These new jobs build on the 8000 we announced in 2014 which has taken our workforce to over 110,000 ahead of schedule."
“As a major UK employer, we have added more than 15,000 people to our workforce during the last five years as a result of our sustained business growth and long-term investment in recruitment and training. Growth has been driven by investment and innovation in the restaurant experience, new restaurants and extended opening hours - over half of our stores are now open 24/7 throughout the week."
Pomroy said that McDonald's is on track to convert a further 250 stores by the end of this year, and that innovations like table service where customers place their order via new digital kiosks and have their food brought to them, are now in place in over 350 restaurants across the UK.
“This focus on continued investment and innovation has seen another strong quarter performance for the UK business. We have now delivered 41 consecutive quarters of sales growth in the UK, by delivering what matter most to our customers - freshly prepared, great tasting food at affordable prices," Pomroy said.
“These remain challenging economic conditions but I’m pleased that, together with our franchisees, we remain committed to the UK, and our continued focus on serving quality, affordable food and giving our customers a great experience is enabling us to keep investing in our business and creating jobs.”
