Byron burgers hires new chief operating officer

The former Pizza Express exec Nick Young will join Byron as its new COO.

Young has gone through a stint as operations director for Sprit Pubs, and more recently, he oversaw the transformation of French restaurant and bakery Aubaine as chief executive. He was also the Pizza Express operations director from 2006 to 2011, and one of the execs to spearhead the expansion of the brand.

He will work closely alongside managing director Simon Cope, reporting into executive chairman and former Morrison's boss Dalton Philips, who said Young will help take the burger chain to "the next level".

Philips said, “In this market, to win, you must constantly outperform your competitors in terms of the service proposition. Nick has a first class record within the sector and brings a wealth of operational know-how to the team.”
