Chart of the Week: McDonald's Employment Hotspots
McDonald's UK has released a detailed map showing their direct and indirect employment levels throughout the UK, and it isn't necessarily where you'd think.
At a time when there is increasing focus on the pull of jobs to London it is very interesting to see that McDonald's seems to be bucking that trend. In fact, the firm estimates that 85% of their jobs are created outside of the capital. Those areas that benefit most from this are shaded in the darker hues of blue on the map.
Aside from their restaurant staff, their supply chain arrangements are also resulting in high employment figures in non-urbanised areas.
