Subway mulls potential US$10b sale of sandwich brand: report

The company has reportedly retained advisers in the early stages of a sales plan.

Sandwich brand Subway is mulling a sale of the business that could value at $10b, a report by the Wall Street Journal said.

The company has retained advisors and is beginning to explore a sales plan to attract corporate buyers and private equity firms.

Last year, Subway denied that it was exploring a sale. It has seen a turn following years of controversies. This follows after  CEO John Chidsey took the wheel and closed down 2,600 franchises in the last three years and revamping Subway’s menu as part of its restructuring plan

By the end of 2021, Subway’s revenue reached US$9.4b, up by 13%.
