McDonald’s in the US has opened its online merchandise shop, inspired by items from the fast food giant. Featured items in the Golden Arches Unlimited site include World Famous Fries socks and Winter beanie, as well as a holiday line, which includes a Holiday sweater, Happy Meal ornament and Sesame Seed popsockets. Papa John’s founder John Schnatter has filed a lawsuit against the pizza chain’s former creative ad firm partner Laundry Service and its parent company Wasserman Media, Bloomberg has reported. Schnatter accused the firm of leaking their private conversation where he dropped a racial slur, which later led to his stepping down as chairman. Read more here.
Potato production in the U.S. has gone down amidst the cold, wet weather, CNN has reported. Despite a forecasted fall to 6.1%, prices of french fries items in big QSR chains are already fixed for the year and unlikely to change, said Rabobank senior analyst Stephen Nicholson. Read more here.
Chick-fil-A topped another list of faved food chains in the US as it ranked first in the marketing research agency Savanta’s list of most loved eating-out chains, based on data from the marketing intelligence platform BrandVue. The chicken chain was followed by Starbucks, then Olive Garden, Krispy Kreme and Texas Roadhouse placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively. Read more here.
Grubhub reported a 27% year-on-year rise in overall popularity of vegan orders in 2019. Cauliflower pizza, amongst seven vegan and vegetarian friendly dishes, also topped their list of the ten most ordered food in their platform this year. Read more here.
