El Mexicana bought by previous owners in pre-packed deal

The new deal also saved 92 jobs.

Mexican restaurant group El Mexicana was bought by its previous owners in a pre-packed administration deal.

It will continue to trade under its El Mexicana and Don Churro brands after being acquired by its previous owners headed by John Coverley and Paul Stagg.

Tim Bateson and Chris Pole from Interpath Advisory were appointed as joint administrators within the Elmex Group, which previously held ownership over El Mexicana

The Mexican restaurant chain suffered as cost pressures took hold as well as challenging trading conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new deal will also save 92 jobs at the group.
