Gourmet Burger Kitchen's like-for-like sales up 8.6%

The results are said to be in line with its management's expectations.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen has reversed the 9.7% like-for-like sales decline in 2018 to an 8.6% climb in the six months ending last 25 August, a voluntary trading update revealed.

However, system-wide UK sales fell 12.5%. Back in October last year, the burger chain has entered a company voluntary arrangement following its multi-million loss last May 2018.

GBK stated that the latest results are in line with its management's expectations.

“The business continued to benefit from the extensive range of operational improvements, together with the company voluntary arrangement (CVA) restructuring programme completed in the past year,” the group said in a statement.
