Insomia Cookies hires ex-Deliveroo director for UK launch
Ben Lacey joins the company as its managing director.
US-based brand Insomnia Cookies has hired Ben Lacey as its managing director for the brand’s launch in the UK.
Formerly the regional director of Deliveroo, Insomnia Cookies said Ben’s wealth of experience within the Manchester market will be a crucial tool in its launch strategy, as it looks to open its first stores in the northern city.
In his role at the food delivery giant, Ben oversaw growth in the north of the UK as well as the south on an interim basis and had overall responsibility for the business outside of London. His role encompassed all three facets of Deliveroo’s offering – consumers, restaurants and riders – overseeing fivefold top-line growth and managing a team of 50 account managers.
Prior to Deliveroo, Ben was at Home Retail Group, the former parent company of Argos and Habitat. During his tenure within the group strategy team, he worked on the Argos location strategy, which ultimately led to the brand’s partnership with Sainsbury’s and its subsequent acquisition by the supermarket giant.
Insomnia Cookies UK is expected to make announcements on further hires and its ambitions for national expansion – as well as reveal more information on its hiring strategy for both drivers and bakery staff, supported by its people team.
Insomnia Cookies is a late-night bakery concept owned by international chain Krispy Kreme.
