Just Eat Takeaway orders past 1 billion in 2021
274 million orders were processed in the fourth quarter of last year.
Just Eat Takeaway.com expects market positions to strengthen in the year ahead as it announced that the number of orders in 2021 grew 33% to 1.1 billion despite being a “peak year of losses."
The delivery firm said gross transaction value (GTV) for the orders was €28.2 billion (approx. £23.5 billion or US$32.1 billion) for the full year, a 31% increase compared with 2020.
274 million orders were processed in the fourth quarter of 2021, representing a 14% rise compared with the same period of 2020. GTV totaled €7.3 billion during this period, a 17% jump compared year-on-year.
UK & Ireland, which recently saw on-demand grocery delivery partnerships, was the fastest growing segment for both the quarter and the year. Further investments, especially in its London network, are planned to improve profitability in 2022.
Looking ahead, the company reiterated its targets of growing its GTV by mid-teens percentage points year-on-year in 2022.
