McDonald's to reopen 15 stores as it seeks rent relief from landlords
The outlets will open on 13 May.
McDonald’s has confirmed that it has been talking to landlords to discuss how the latter can offer support amidst trading restrictions due to the pandemic.
"Despite restaurants being closed, we have continued to pay rent in full and have been very clear that we will continue to meet our obligations to landlords across the McDonald's estate," a spokesperson for the fast food giant said in a statement.
"Given the unprecedented situation and impact it has had on the business, we have opened dialogue with some of our landlords to discuss how they might offer support on rent and service charges for a short period due to our restaurants not trading," it added.
Businesses face their next quarterly rent bill on 24 June.
McDonald's earlier revealed plans to reopen 15 outlets in the UK for delivery only services on 13 May.
