More jobs in hospitality sector with government support: trade association

The sector has created half a million jobs in the past decade.

A hospitality trade association has urged government for support in generating more employment in the sector.

Citing government data, UKHospitality says that the sector has created half a million jobs since 2009 despite rising costs and “difficult trading situation.”

“This highlights, not just how important the sector is in terms of employment, but also how resilient and adaptable businesses are,” UKHospitality chief executive Kate Nicholls said.

“If we get the correct support from the incoming Government, there is no reason why hospitality cannot exceed this figure over the next decade.”
