Nando's posts global sales increase by 8.4% in February
The chicken chain, however, reported a slight decrease in operating profit by 1.9% to £41.9m due to increased business costs.
Nando’s global sales has risen by 8.4% year-on-year to £1.1bn for the year ending February 2019.
The PERi-PERi chicken chain’s company-owned restaurants reported sales of £1bn, whilst sales from royalties and franchise fees were £12.1m.
A £87.9m in capital expenditure, the company said, reflected its “high levels of confidence in the business and growth prospects as it invested in new restaurants, infrastructure and expanded the international footprint.”
The chicken chain, however, reported a slight decrease in operating profit by 1.9% to £41.9m, compared with £42.8m the previous year “largely due to higher costs as the business grew.”
The total number of the chain’s restaurants was 936 in the same period: 740 were company-owned, whilst 196 were run on a franchise basis.
Moreover, Nando’s has bought out five franchised restaurants for a total of £278,000 during the year: four in Australia and one in New Zealand.
