Pret A Manger, supplier to face trial over contaminated bread wrap
The case will be tried in Bristol Crown Court on 6 December.
Pret A Manger and its supplier Planet Coconut were slapped with court charges after one person died from an allergic reaction to a contaminated bread wrap.
The Daily Mail reports that the latest death case of Celia Marsh, 42, was due to an allergic reaction to traces of milk protein found in the dairy-free yoghurt in Pret’s “super-veg rainbow flatbread” she had purchased from a branch in Bath in 2017.
The report noted that Pret is slapped with six charges, whilst Planet Coconut, which supplies Pret with dairy-free yoghurt, is slapped with eight charges, in relation to Marsh’s death.
The case will be tried in Bristol Crown Court on 6 December.
Pret has previously apologised for the death of Natasha Ednan-Laperouse, 15, who died in 2016 after eating a Pret baguette whilst on a flight to France.
The bakery chain has earlier vowed to enact changes in their product labelling.
