SSP revenue rises 7.5% in Q1
The company proposed a deal to acquire Station Food in Germany.
SSP reported a revenue increase of 7.5% in Q1 2020 with system-wide like-for-like sales up by 1.2% and net contract gains up by 6.3%.
In the period covering October to December 2019, like-for-like sales growth in the UK and North America remained “robust” on the back of increasing passenger numbers, whilst its Continental Europe operations were affected by the transport strikes in France in December.
SSP said new contract openings last year drove “strong“ net contract gains. This includes the launch of foodservice units at Germany’s Montparnasse Railway station and three airports in the U.S.
The company also announced its proposed deal to acquire Station Food, which was claimed to add 28 new food and beverage units at railway stations in Germany and to contribute £10 million to its 2020 revenue.
