UberEats seeks to increase driver income following Central London strike
The delivery platform said that they have asked their drivers’ feedback regarding the issue.
A spokesperson for UberEats said that they are planning to make changes in their payment structure in Birmingham, London and Manchester to increase the income of their drivers.
“We recently asked couriers for feedback on how we could help maximise their earnings. The changes will help increase courier earnings during busy mealtimes, while providing more transparency on when and where the potential to earn is highest,” their spokesperson said.
Some of their riders have recently launched a strike in front of their London headquarters after their minimum per-delivery rate is said to have decreased to £3.50 from £4.26. The protesters chanted “no money and no food” and also demands a minimum rate of £5.
“To provide couriers with confidence the new system will improve earnings during the busiest times, we’re also introducing minimum payment guarantees of £9-11 an hour.”
