Burger King brings back limited edition Route 66 menu
The burger chain reintroduced the Route 66 in participating restaurants across the UK, with the brand new side Chorizo Bites. The menu includes the Chicago Steakhouse; featuring a Whopper patty, bacon, crispy onions, white cheddar cheese and salad, all topped off with a serving of peppercorn sauce. The Texas Crunchy Whopper, featuring a Whopper patty, crunchy potato rosti, crispy bacon with American cheese and mayo, and a tangy BBQ sauce.

Casual Dining Restaurant & Pub Awards 2016 names finalists
Brands including JD Wetherspoon, Young’s, Revolution, ASK Italian, Jamie’s Italian, Carluccio's, Côte Restaurants, wagamama, Nando’s, Ed’s Easy Diner, GBK, and Pizza Hut, have made the shortlists for this year’s first ever Casual Dining Restaurant & Pub Awards. The brands are among 48 casual dining pub and restaurant operators competing for awards across 12 categories, which cover a range from new concepts, social responsibility and employee engagement to marketing and design, as well as recognising the outstanding brands of the year. The awards – launched to celebrate excellence within the growing multi-billion pound casual dining sector – will be presented at an awards dinner on the evening of 24 February 2016 at The Grange St. Paul’s Hotel in London, following the first day of next month’s Casual Dining show. Data shows the growing importance of Casual Dining restaurants in the British Foodservice market
The NPD Group has revealed how Casual Dining contributes to an increasing proportion of Foodservice traffic - accounting now for 4% of all visits. Although still quite small, their traffic has grown by 29% since 2009. Casual Dining now equates to 441 million visits in the year ending September 2015. Fiscally, Casual Dining generates 4.4 billion pounds to the Foodservice Industry. This channel has a much higher average ticket (£9.92) than QSR (£3.63).
JUST EAT order growth soars 57%
The takeaway food delivery service announced a reported 57% growth in orders for the the twelve months to 31 December 2015.
Greggs sales up 5.2%
The bakery chain reported that total sales grew 5.2% in its fourth quarter trading update in the 52 weeks ended January 2, 2016. Company-managed shop like-for-like sales rose 4.7%, with a recorded growth of 2.3% in the fourth quarter.
