The Canonbury brings back Scotch Egg Challenge
The Scotch Egg Challenge will return and entries are now open.
Competition founder Oisín Rogers will be kick-starting the new year with the return of the Scotch Egg Challenge on Tuesday 8th February. Returning for its sixth year, and hosted by Joe Warwick, the 2017 event will take place at Oisin’s old stomping ground, The Canonbury in Islington. Shortlisted contestants will be invited to take to the kitchens to hatch their eggs in front of a panel of judges that include the Guardian’s Bob Granleese, chef and owner of Kiln Soho, Ben Chapman and Restaurant Magazine Editor, Stefan Chomka.
"Whether you’re a restaurant, pub, café or food shop, if you serve up a cracking egg, then get entering for your chance to be named the nation’s best Scotch Egg. With two categories, Traditional and Unconventional, there is space for the classic and the experimental. In 2015, Chef Calum Franklin from Holborn Dining Room won Best Traditional egg with his white pudding and sausage creation with Best Unconventional going to the Princess Victoria’s Nick Maloney for his Thai Scotch Egg," The Canonbury said.
