McDonald's: £65,900 bid for Big Mac sauce was a hoax

The fast food giant announced that the highest recorded bid for its Big Mac sauce on the online auction was a hoax. McDonald's however said that they've received 40+ legitimate bids over £50,000, and are now speaking to the next bidder to get their interest.

Steve Howells, Head of Marketing, McDonald’s UK said: “We were overwhelmed by the interest in our Big Mac sauce auction. It really captured the public’s imagination and we’re hoping to have raised over £65,000 for RMHC which will equate to hundreds of nights’ accommodation for families with children in hospital when the winner steps forward.”

All proceeds from the winning bid will go to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), an independent charity that provides free home away from home accommodation for families of poorly children.
