PizzaExpress appoints first Head of Flair
The new role has been recruited to showcase the art of pizza flaring
PizzaExpress has appointed Danny Hamilton, PizzaExpress Kings Lynn General Manager, as the Head of Flair, as part of its new marketing campaign that shines a light towards the art of pizza flaring.
Danny was selected for the role after he beat the competition with his extraordinary dough-flaring skills. Danny has been a PizzaExpress team member for 15 years. He began his career as a trainee Pizzaiolo at the Kings Lynn restaurant in West Norfolk – the same restaurant he manages today – before being promoted into a range of positions including working as a restaurant team trainer.
As Head of Flair, Danny will become a brand ambassador to both customers and restaurant teams. He will create new menu items and star in social media campaigns. Most importantly, Danny will work closely with PizzaExpress’ Learning & Development team to inspire and teach the art of dough flaring for the Pizzaiolos across PizzaExpress globally, from live tutorials to tips and tricks videos.
As part of his Head of Flair role, Danny is also one of the leading stars in a new out of home campaign in iconic locations across the North West of the country. The campaign features Danny along with three other PizzaExpress team members as the stars of the show, paying homage to those who are dedicated to serving pizza with pizzazz.
The art of flaring began in 1965 when PizzaExpress invented the role of the Pizzaiolo. Artfully flaring dough is something PizzaExpress’ top Pizzaiolos pride themselves on, flawlessly stretching the dough to preserve the small air bubbles needed to ensure the perfect balance of soft dough and a crispy base.
PizzaExpress Chief Marketing Officer Stephen Taylor said the brand was thrilled to welcome
Danny into the role of Head of Flair.
“At PizzaExpress, we’re passionate about helping our team members have successful and rewarding careers, and once we saw Danny’s love for the brand, combined with his exceptional flaring skills, we knew he was perfect for our Head of Flair position to inspire our teams,” Taylor said.
