Square Pie Great Brexit Bake Off predicts 'Leave' win
The London restaurant group saw the Brexit ‘British beef, wonky veg and home brewed ale’ take on the ‘European sausage union’ pie, predicting the EU referendum result.
The Brexit Bake Off saw the special ‘Out’ pie ‘Steak, wonky veg and home brewed ale’ victorious at 55% of the votes against the ‘European Sausage Union’ pie at 45%.
Founder Martin Dewey said, “Sadly and quite unbelievably the pies have got it right, when the opinion polls didn’t. Personally I'm all for being part of Europe but the democratic pastry will of the people needs to be followed. Think we will all need a great pie to help with the confusion coming!”
Square Pie allowed its customers to vote ‘Out’ with a classic combo of British beef, wonky veg and proper home brewed ale, or vote ‘In’ with a very continental European Sausage Union combo of Toulouse, Chorizo, Bratwurst and Pepperoni sausages in an Italian tomato sauce. Both pies were available for delivery via Deliveroo.
