Taco Bell announces first London store through the chimes of Big Ben
Three more stores in the capital city are set to open in the coming months.
Taco Bell has launched their first London store in Hammersmith after 20 years since they last had a presence in the capital.
To announce their comeback, the taco chain and communications marketing firm Edelman has broadcasted the launch of their first store and three more upcoming stores through recreating chimes of Big Ben.
They hired audio designer and composer Simon Little to reengineer the sound of the Westminster Quarters using the Taco Bell chime. They have placed hidden speakers surrounding the clock tower to mimic the sound it used to make.
This came as a surprise to many passersby as Big Ben wasn’t supposed to ring until 2021 due to the repairs needed.
“We’ve had our sights set on London for quite some time, and as we continue growing internationally, we’re excited to bring Taco Bell to one of the world’s largest cities – and one of our most-requested markets,” Liz Williams, President of Taco Bell International, said.
“We’ve seen an overwhelmingly positive response to our U.K. restaurants, and have ambitious plans for growth in London and the broader U.K., targeting more than 30 U.K. restaurants by the end of the year.”
There will also be three more London openings in the coming months.
