IRO Sushi expands lunch offer with first sando launch
The launch taps into a UK trend toward grab-and-go, protein-rich lunches.
IRO Sushi has introduced its first sando as part of an effort to broaden its ready-to-eat and lunchtime offerings.
The Crunchy Salmon Sando features Norwegian salmon, avocado, and cream cheese wrapped in a crispy nori-coated sandwich, topped with unagi sauce.
It joins the chain’s existing menu items, such as the Salmon Selection, Chicken Katsu Curry, and Chicken Gyoza.
The launch comes amidst a wider trend in the UK for convenient, high-protein lunch options.
Japanese-style sandos have become increasingly popular over the past year, appealing to time-pressed consumers seeking new lunchtime choices.
Google Trends data shows search interest in sandos rose 32% in the last 12 months and 59% over two years.
The menu addition coincides with a period of growth for IRO Sushi, which plans to open at least 10 new UK locations in 2026 and is considering international expansion, with a goal of reaching 100 outlets worldwide by 2030.
