Pret launches half baguettes in winter menu update

Ten pence from every soup sale goes toward The Pret Foundation.

Pret A Manger has updated its January menu, adding new baguettes, soups, and hot items alongside several returning bestsellers.

Prices start at £1.99 for half baguettes. Six options are available, including Posh Cheddar & Pickle, Chicken Caesar & Bacon, Italian Prosciutto and pole-and-line-caught tuna, plus a new “Greek-ish” chicken baguette and a vegan avocado, olive, and tomato option.

The Greek-inspired baguette features British chicken with yoghurt-based mayonnaise, feta, cucumber, tomato, Kalamata olives, and mint, served on a stone-baked baguette and also sold in a full-size version.

The January line-up also introduces new soups, a hot wrap, a porridge topping, and three seasonal barista-made drinks.

Two new soups draw on North African and Indian flavours. The Moroccan-style chickpea soup combines red lentils, giant couscous, red pepper, and tomato with spices including ras el hanout, cumin, and ginger.

The garam masala lentil soup uses red and green lentils cooked with tomato, cumin, coriander, onion, and garlic.

Chicken Laksa has also been added as a side soup. Pret said it will donate 10p from each soup sold to The Pret Foundation, which supports homelessness charities.

A new Mexican-style chickpea and bean hot wrap joins the menu, inspired by the Chipotle Chicken Super Plate.

The wrap contains chargrilled chickpeas, a black bean mole with chipotle ketchup, feta, coriander, and melted Grevé cheese.

The company has also taken cues from its US menu. The Big Apple Bowl, which became its top-selling yoghurt after launching in the UK last January, has influenced two new items: an apple and cinnamon porridge topping and a limited-edition apple cinnamon latte.

The latte will be available in UK shops until 10 March.

Rounding out the seasonal drinks are the return of the caramel latte and a renewed focus on vanilla matcha, available hot or iced.

All three barista-prepared drinks are included in Club Pret, which offers subscribers 50% off for £5 a month.
