New bistro restaurant Belly to open in Kentish Town

The bistro will focus on wood-fired cooking, offering a fusion of Filipino and European flavours.

New bistro restaurant Belly is set to open its doors on 8 May at 157 Kentish Town Road, offering a fusion of modern Filipino and European flavours.

The bistro will focus on wood-fired cooking, with all dishes curated to complement its diverse selection of global wines, available by the glass or bottle.

To start, French classics like steak tartare are reimagined with an Asian twist, featuring cured yolk and Nori-seasoned crisps.

Alternatively, for seafood lovers, there are inventive options such as Diver Scallops, cured and warmed with a Malt Vinegar & Fermented Shrimp Coconut Sauce, or a Pandesal Cod Tempura Slider topped with Ikura Tartar.

Main courses centred around wood-fired dishes like Wood Fired Wagyu Picanha with Peppercorn & Liver Sauce, Oak-Smoked Tinola Chicken with Caper, Ginger, and Coriander Salsa Verde, and Filipino-inspired Beurre Blanc, as well as Wood Smoked Sticky Tamarind Lamb Ribs.

Likewise, sides include Kombu butter and coconut vinegar wood-fired potatoes or beef fat fries with a house-made sriracha Thousand Island dipping sauce.

For dessert, guests can indulge in an eclectic selection, including frozen custard profiteroles with fish sauce caramel or coconut pie with Chantilly cream.

The intimate 35-seat venue is styled with bistro tables dressed in crisp white linens, complemented by bent wood chairs.
