Greggs to trial ‘bitesize’ concepts in September
The new, smaller-sized bakeries will still have all of Greggs' iconic menu.
Greggs will trial smaller format bakeries as part of its format flexibility plans.
The first of the ‘bitesized’ Greggs concept will open in September. According to Greggs, these formats will target transport hubs, but also explore opportunities in petrol forecourts, supermarkets, retail parks, and hospitals.
Greggs said the smaller formats unlock locations where insufficient space for full-service operation and increase the scale of opportunity.
In its interim results for the 26 weeks ending 28 June 2025, Greggs reported that it closed 56 restaurants, with pre-tax profit falling 14.3% in H1.
