Sticks’n’Sushi announced a new opening in Richmond, London, on 5 May.
Sticks’n’Sushi Richmond has been designed by Berlin-based architects Diener & Diener. The restaurant’s design incorporates nods to its location, whilst the interior takes inspiration from Richmond’s tight-knit and lively community.
Located on the corner of George Street and King Street, the site was formally built as a Dickins and Jones department store in 1968, and more recently housed the retailer House of Fraser until 2020, which ended a long and proud chapter in Richmond’s retail history.

Guests entering the restaurant will meet the space in its centre on a diagonal walkway, which divides the restaurant in two. The stunning layout encourages guests to flow through the space like the nearby River Thames, whilst the design captures a perfect balance of Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian elegance. Colours are muted and soft, with clay greys and rusty reds dividing the restaurant into two horizontal halves and providing a warm, relaxing atmosphere in modern, sleek surroundings.
Founded by half-Danish, half-Japanese brothers Jens and Kim Rahbek and Thor Andersen, today, the group consists of 27 restaurants across Copenhagen, Berlin and the UK.
