Pret might introduce deposit scheme for plastic bottles

Pret would like to trial its own return initiative in Brighton shops in April.

Clive Schlee, Pret’s CEO, is today asking customers to feedback on whether Pret should introduce a deposit return scheme for plastic bottles. In Britain, it’s estimated that as a nation just over half of the bottles that were sold in 2016 were recycled. Meanwhile, countries such as Denmark and Germany have seen rates of recycling grow to more than 90% after introducing deposit return schemes. So Pret would like to trial its own deposit return scheme for all Pret plastic bottles in Brighton in April.

In his blog post, published today, Schlee said, "Is 10p enough? Is this the right direction Pret should pursue? Customers are encouraged to tweet their feedback @cliveschlee."

Schlee’s full blog post is below and it’s available to view on Pret’s website here: https://www.pret.co.uk/en-gb/should-pret-introduce-a-plastic-bottle-deposit-scheme.
