Veggie Pret aims for post-lockdown boost with Deliveroo partnership
The delivery platform saw a 181% increase in the number of healthy orders on the platform over the past three years.
With bolstered safety and social distancing measures in place, Veggie Pret has reopened all of its 10 shops in London and Manchester for takeaway.
Seven of the ten shops, including the Manchester location, have been offering deliveries for the first time by Deliveroo’s fleet of riders, a first for the Pret A Manger sub-brand.
“The menu is one of the most extensive veggie and vegan offerings on the Deliveroo platform, so that even more customers can access our extensive veggie and vegan menu,” Pret A Manger told QSR Media.
The move seems to capitalise on a clear surge in healthy option searches on the platform. According to Deliveroo global director of health Tom Peters, they have seen a 181% increase in the number of healthy orders on the platform over the past three years and specifically an increase in demand for more plant-based options.
“The extensive Veggie Pret menu of veggie and vegan friendly items really caters to this, and we're here to deliver it to customers' doors in London and Manchester,” he said in an earlier statement.
Given the challenges brought about by COVID-19, Pret revealed that some of its plans for new shop openings are under review, and instead focused on product development.
“We’re looking forward to bringing our customers more innovative and exclusive vegetarian and vegan options this summer,” the chain said.
Pret recently launched its first retail coffee range on Amazon UK, along with a new ‘Heat Me at Home’ range.
Veggie Pret currently operates with a limited menu, offering some of our most popular vegetarian and vegan sandwiches, salads and baguettes, as well as hot and cold drinks, baked goods, fruit and snacks.
