Just Eat starts display of UK restaurants' food hygiene ratings
The move will give customers direct access to independent data on restaurants’ hygiene standards.
Just Eat has published the official food hygiene rating of every restaurant listed on its platform, allowing customers access to the latest Food Standard Agency (FSA) hygiene information for over 30,000 restaurants and takeaways.
“We spoke to customers about the information they want before choosing their takeaway and their feedback was clear. They want easy access to independent information about the hygiene standards of their local restaurants and we’ve worked hard to make that a reality,” Just Eat UK managing director Graham Corfield said in a media release.
“This will have the dual benefit of giving customers all the information they want, while also incentivising restaurants to invest in food safety and ultimately drive standards up across the whole industry, even when food isn’t being ordered via us.”
The move comes as new data reveals that 93% of people agree that it should be mandatory for all food businesses to openly display their food hygiene information online. 81% say they find it important to know the rating of a food business before making purchases.
The publication follows a trial of the initiative in over 600 restaurants in Northern Ireland earlier this year.
Irish breakfast rolls now available
The delivery service also teamed up with Maxol outlets to serve Ireland's classic breakfast rolls in Dublin.
The classic item is the latest addition to the expanding Just Eat breakfast offering, which also features Angelina’s Deli, Chopped, Cocu, LEON and O’Briens.
