Just Eat Takeaway launches grocery delivery service in Germany

The company is considering a similar approach in the UK.

Just Eat Takeaway.com said it would launch a supermarket delivery service in Germany and is also considering implementing it in other markets.

In a statement, Takeaway said Lieferando, which operates in 50 German cities, “intends to run its grocery business at gross profit neutral.

“Just Eat Takeaway.com is also investigating a similar approach in other key markets such as the UK and the Netherlands,” the company added.

Takeaway reported a net loss of 151 million euros for 2020 and said it intends to sacrifice profitability to win market share this year.
