UberEats to open 400 ‘virtual restaurants' in the UK

The food delivery aggregator partnered with hundreds of restaurants across the country to launch this initiative.

UberEats has plans to launch 400 virtual restaurants in the UK before 2018 ends.

The reasons behind the move is to further improve growth and market share. This will allow more takeaway options that are exclusive to UberEats.

"Since we started helping partners experiment with virtual concepts in the US just over a year ago, more than 1600 virtual restaurants have launched on the Uber Eats app around the world,” Uber Eats UK manager Toussaint Wattine said.

“In the UK we are working with hundreds of restaurants across the country to help them identify ‘selection gaps’ in their city that present an opportunity to launch virtual restaurants from the same kitchen. We expect to have over 400 virtual restaurants operating on the Uber Eats app by the end of the year."
