The Athenian implements ‘Walk to work' scheme as business model shifts

The move hopes to encourage employees to practice social distancing.

Greek street food brand The Athenian has implemented a ‘Walk to Work’ scheme, where delivery team members who walk to work will be paid to do so rather than taking public transport.

By encouraging employees to practise social distancing whilst getting to work, the brand said it hopes to “contribute meaningfully to the national effort to contain the virus” and ensuring they continue to trade “in a safe way.”

Weekly care packages have also been made available for all The Athenian staff as well as the offer of free meals during shifts.

In addition to The Athenian’s current operating sites in White City, Victoria, Battersea, Canary Wharf and Bristol, Deliveroo Edition Kitchens have been added to the roster in Reading, Swiss Cottage and Brighton, slated to launch by 29 April.

The Athenian will be donating a further 2500 meals to the NHS as a gesture of appreciation for all their efforts during the ongoing pandemic.
