Casual Dining Group agrees to European Chicken Commitment

The move builds on the company’s cage-free egg pledge and responsible fish sourcing programme.

Casual Dining Group (CDG), the operator of restaurant brands including Café Rouge and Bella Italia, has agreed to the European Chicken Commitment, which would require companies to commit to a range of key standards by 2026 around slower growing chicken breeds, reduced stocking density, environmental enrichment, natural light, and humane slaughtering processes.

The company says the move builds on its cage-free egg pledge and responsible fish sourcing programme and follows months of planning, analysis and engagement with Compassion in World Farming (CIWF).

CDG and CIWF aim to host a working group later this year to develop a five-year action plan supported by annual progress reports.
