McDonald's Germany trials new packaging concept at 30 sites

The company says it will save around 70% of packaging material.

McDonald's Germany said is trialing the use of thin wrapping paper in 30 restaurants, a change from the normally used paperboard boxes.

The fast food giant says the initiative will save around 70% of packaging material. The new packaging will be tested over a period of two months, and will apply to the majority of its products.

Guests will also have the opportunity to give feedback on the new packaging, which could be rolled out in all McDonald’s restaurants if the test results are deemed promising.

McDonald's Germany has also started using grass paper for some of its burgers and McWraps.
