Wagamama Continues Airport Expansion Moves
Outlet to open in Gatwick North Terminal in spring.
wagamama have announced their second branch to open in an airport, with Gatwick's North Terminal set to open following their Heathrow Terminal 5 outlet, which opened back in 2007.
While the restaurant will feature the brand's familiar communal benches and open kitchens, there will be some differences compared to the chain's high street outlets too. These include a full breakfast menu, a pre-order and fast payment service and USB charge points.
Commenting on the announcement, Simon Cope, Global Brand Director for wagamama said "We offer freshly cooked food, served quickly for those wanting to enjoy a unique meal before boarding their flight. wagamama's natural fit for airport dining was recently endorsed by a survey conducted by Gatwick airport, which revealed that wagamama is one of the most requested restaurants by its passengers".
Charlotte Christiansen, Business Development Manager for Catering at London Gatwick also noted wagamama's popularity amongst the travelling public saying "wagamama is a hugely popular brand with our passengers and its extensive menu is perfectly matched to airport dining... A third of our passengers told us they would like to see a wagamama at Gatwick so we have acted on this".
