GDK launches week-long 50% off offer for World Kebab Day

It also hosted its "GDK Phone Box” in Camden, inviting kebab confessions from the public.

German Doner Kebab (GDK) is marking World Kebab Day on 10 July with a week-long campaign running from 6-12 July, during which it is offering customers 50% off main meals.

The announcement comes alongside new survey data from 2,000 UK adults, which found London ranked as the country’s leading kebab city, followed by Manchester and Birmingham.

Glasgow and Liverpool made up the rest of the top five.

The research also highlighted changing attitudes amongst Gen Z towards doner kebabs.

More than half of respondents in the age group said they were bored of eating the same lunches, with 21% saying they would choose a doner kebab most often for lunch, compared with more than 20% who would opt for a supermarket meal deal.

The survey suggested kebabs are increasingly being viewed as more than a late-night takeaway option.

Nearly half of Gen Z respondents (47%) said they enjoy eating kebabs whilst sober, whilst 39% said they believed the food had improved in recent years.

Around one in three said they would consider going on a kebab date.

GDK hosted the “GDK Phone Box” in Camden, London, where members of the public were invited to share their kebab-related opinions and habits, including their biggest kebab “red flags” and which sauces they would ban.

Participants received a free GDK kebab and merchandise.
