EXCLUSIVE: Where Rosa's Thai Cafe eyes Opportunity

Saiphin and Alex Moore, the husband and wife founders of Thai restaurant group Rosa’s Thai Cafe, have announced they will open new Rosa’s restaurant sites in Tooting and Ealing.

The new 60-cover Tooting site, split over two levels and located on Tooting High Street, will open officially to the public on the 22nd of March. Complete with theatre kitchen on the ground floor, the new site will also offer a basement restaurant space that can be used as a 25-cover private dining room.

Both sites have been designed by Gundry & Ducker and will serve Rosa’s much-loved menu, which includes Rosa’s butternut red curry, stir fried aubergine, chicken satay, papaya salad and of course, the signature pad Thai dish. Rosa’s Thai Cafe is slated to open in Tooting on 22nd March, with the new Ealing Broadway site opening in early summer.

QSR Media spoke with Rosa's Thai Cafe's managing director Gavin Adair to find out more:

QSR Media: Why were these sites chosen?

Both locations are great demographics for us and our simple philosophy of great food and genuine hospitality. We've been looking within the Ealing area for a while, whilst the Tooting site was more of a surprise find - although we have been looking for further south London opportunities after our success in Brixton.

QSR Media: It started off as a difficult year for casual dining chains - why does Rosa’s think it's the right time for expansion?

The new openings are the first stage of a plan that's been coming together over the last twelve months since I joined Rosa's. We've got great momentum in the business and the team are excited about the opportunities ahead of us, believing the increasingly tough environment will be a net positive for us in the medium term.

QSR Media: Is the brand expecting to open further sites over 2018? If so, where?

We have our eye on a few other areas for new sites and the ability to open more this year. Our focus out of London is in the North West, but we also see scope for more sites in London, too.

QSR Media: What are the plans for Rosa’s Thai Kitchen this year?

We are constantly developing new ideas for Rosa's Thai Kitchen, and think we could do more with it but we don't have specific plans for the time being.
