Carioca brings 'A Bite of Brazil' to Boxpark Croydon
The Brixton-based Brazilian restaurant announced a new Rio streetfood unit.
Launching officially on Monday 31st October and open seven days per week, Carioca’s new site at Boxpark Croydon will allow guests to enjoy vibrant flavourful Brazilian food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, to eat in or take away alongside fresh fruit juices, coffee and Caipirinha cocktails.
During the daytime, the team will serve their unique Brazilian twist on all-day breakfast classics. Carioca’s maize muffins will showcase an array of brunch toppings, ranging from the hearty Copacabana (poached egg, pulled braised beef, fried plantain, black bean stew and sour cream); to the spicy Ipanema (pan-fried chorizo slices, capers, sun-dried tomato, ripe avocado, poached egg and salsa verde); and the new vegetarian Samba (marinated grilled vegetables, black beans, avocado, poached egg, crispy sweet potato and roast aubergine purée).
From 5pm onwards, visitors can take their pick from Carioca’s fabulous “Flying Down to Rio” menu, paired with authentic Brahma beers and refreshing Caipirinha house cocktails for the full Carnaval experience. Carioca’s vibrant modern food reflects the spectacular style of icon Carmen Miranda and is served with the same warm Latino smile.
The evening menu at Carioca’s Rio streetfood unit Boxpark Croydon will include the Favela Cantalago (pulled braised beef slow-cooked with bell peppers, onions and spices, topped with banana and bacon farofa plus white cabbage slaw on a fried cassava rosti); Brazilian-style burger alternative The Pele (melt-in-your-mouth cuts of Jacob’s Ladder beef ribs, churrasco sauce, plus chicken, pineapple and red cabbage slaw, all topped with Gloucester cheese, bacon, crispy onion and a fried egg in a brioche bun); classic Feijoada with four different meat cuts; as well as its vegetarian counterpart The Redeemer (smoky bell peppers, shallot onions and spices, carrot, leek, squash and black beans, served with rice, fried plantain and white cabbage, apple and pineapple slaw).
Carioca’s owner Maurilio Goncalves said: “We are very excited to be part of the lineup opening at Boxpark Croydon alongside so many other fantastic traders. We can’t wait to give everyone a taste of true Brazil’s amazing flavours, bright colours, lively atmosphere and warm hospitality!”
