Takeaway restaurant receives backlash for offensive marketing stunt

The ad compared Victoria Beckham’s body to a thin crust pizza.

According to The Sun, Victoria Beckham takes legal advice after takeaway restaurant brands her as an ‘anorexic fashion icon’ with an advertisement which reads 'new Victoria Beckham thin crust — only 2mm thin'.

The manager of Sidhu Fish and Chips in North Tyneside, Soni Sidhu, said he understood the seriousness of anorexia before creating the controversial advert.

“It is reassuring the general public (whom this advert is aimed at) are sensible enough to differentiate between make-believe and real life.

"It is offered as a fun way to make people smile, and to escape from the daily hustle and bustle of life. We would be genuinely horrified if anyone was genuinely offended.”

Beckham does not want to sue the small business, but is only after the removal of the imagery from the van. The takeaway brand was also condemned by anorexia charities.
