Phat Pasty to showcase British flavours in Japan
The trip is part of a prize won at the British Pie Awards.
Phat Pasty Company is set to bring its signature Cornish creations to Japan this October, following its win at the British Pie Awards which was sponsored by Hankyu, a renowned department store in Osaka, Japan, which welcomes over 50 million visitors each year.
The UK-based foodservice supplier, known for its hand-made pasties and savoury products, has been invited to host a pop-up at Hankyu’s British Fair—an annual event in Osaka that drew more than 500,000 visitors last year.
“With quality and provenance at our core, we’ve built a reputation for creating authentic products with a theme of ‘flavours from around the world’, which are hand-made in Cornwall. We worked on a traditional Southern Indian recipe from Kerala, adding some mango chutney and onion bhajis for extra punch. It’s now incredibly popular in cafes, restaurants and catering offers across the UK, with many leading caterers adding it to their menus,” Paul Clark, Phat Controller at the Phat Pasty Company said.
The trip comes at a time of strong momentum for Phat Pasty. In late 2024, the company became the first Cornish pasty producer to be B Corp certified—an acknowledgement of its social and environmental practices. This was followed by its February 2025 accreditation under the Vegetarian Society’s Plant-Based Trademark, recognising its continued leadership in the vegan space.
Phat Pasty's products are currently available across the UK in cafés, restaurants, schools, and theme parks, and are distributed through major foodservice wholesalers. The company also operates a direct-to-consumer arm, Phat At Home, which delivers frozen pasties for baking nationwide.
