Greggs unveils new vegan sausage roll

The new item was launched after a petition for the item was signed by more than 20,000 people.

Greggs has announced that they have launched a new vegan version of their sausage roll last January 3.

The new item had 96 layers of Quorn filling that replaces the original offering’s puff pastry. The launch is said to have been driven by a petition signed by over 20,000 people, including People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Foundation.

The bakery chain will be making 1.5 million vegan sausage rolls a week and is sold in 950 locations across the UK.

The coming of the said item has been long mooted as it was first reported that they have been trialling the product on October last year.
