Pizza Hut Delivery partners with Beyond Meat for plant-based pizzas
The items will be trialled in only five locations.
Pizza Hut Delivery announced a new partnership with Beyond Meat, which will see the chain trial plant-based meat pizzas in the UK to meet customer demand for more vegetarian and flexitarian-friendly options.
The pizza firm is also the first chain in the UK to offer Beyond Meat toppings. The toppings themselves - consisting of the Beyond Pork Crumbles, Beyond Beef Crumbles and Beyond Italian Style Sausage - have been developed to have the same taste and flavour profile as the regular meat toppings from Pizza Hut.
The partnership will offer five new plant-based meat pizza options that include both new flavours and twists on Pizza Hut favourites, and will be available for a limited time only in five locations in Luton, Liverpool and London from 10 November until supplies last.
“We know that consumers are looking for more plant-based options for health, environmental and lifestyle considerations, and aim to ensure they have access to these new options while maintaining our great tasting pizzas! Beyond Meat is the perfect partner to do so,” Regina Borda, Managing Director of Pizza Hut UK & Europe, said in a statement.
Ethan Brown, CEO of Beyond Meat, added: “Our partnership with Pizza Hut is a category first and together we will continue to raise the bar on game changing product innovations.”
Pizza Hut Delivery, the UK franchise operator of Pizza Hut International, is also currently recruiting for over 2.500 new positions to continue meeting Britain’s demand for delivery and is expanding its footprint by 125 locations over the next three years.
