Wimpy launches new, lower-calorie menu
Sugary drinks have also been removed from Wimpy’s kids’ menu.
Wimpy has announced its new summer menu in its 69 UK table service restaurants, now with lower calorie options.
Chicken chunks, for example, have been replaced by bigger, lower fat breaded chicken breast strips while their thick shakes have 20% less calories.
Wimpy's kids menu now features four sugar-free fizzy drinks, each with 100 calories and 27g of sugar, replacing their high calorie, sugary fizzy drinks.
“Offering quality, good value meals is in our DNA and we’ve worked hard to ensure our new menu delivers some significant reductions in calorie count without compromising on flavour or enjoyment," Wimpy UK General Manager Chris Woolfenden said.
Other changes include using only semi-skimmed milk instead of whole milk in all coffees, a new Spicy Southern Fried Quorn burger and salad; and introducing Heinz baked beans as a third side option for all kids meals.
A similar menu is expected to launch in Wimpy’s additional nine Express outlets in the next few weeks.
